About Arthur
Welcome to Journeys Over a Lifetime
For booklovers, by a lifelong traveler and writer
Arthur Sontag is a lifelong traveler, writer, and photographer whose Journeys Over a Lifetime series shares decades of travel across the United States and around the world. Reading and travel shaped his life, inspiring a passion for storytelling and a deep appreciation for history, geography, architecture, and human connection.
- “Reading and writing have shaped my life since childhood, turning early solitude into a gateway to adventure and discovery. Books first carried me across Canada, Africa, India, and beyond long before I ever boarded a plane.”
Through stories of distant lands, I first discovered the places that would one day shape my real journeys. Those early books inspired a lifelong passion for travel, photography, and writing—eventually leading to Journeys Over a Lifetime, where I share the people, landscapes, and histories that captured my heart.
Those stories eventually grew into real journeys across all fifty U.S. states and more than sixty countries, where history, architecture, and everyday life came alive. Through my series Journeys Over a Lifetime, I share these experiences so readers can travel alongside me—one page, one photograph, and one memory at a time.
